Our commitment: gambling is entertainment, not income

Most people who gamble do so for enjoyment and within a budget they have chosen. A smaller number find that it stops being entertainment and begins to cost more than money. We hold a gaming licence, we verify the age and identity of every account holder, and we treat the duty that comes with that as part of running the site properly.

Our approach is simple. Decide what you can comfortably afford to lose before you play, treat that amount as the price of the entertainment, and stop when it is gone. Every game we offer carries a built-in margin in the house's favour, and results over any short period are a matter of chance. We also look at how accounts are used, and where the pattern of play suggests harm we may get in touch, ask about affordability, apply limits or close an account.

  • Set a budget before you open a game, and keep it separate from money you need for rent, bills or food.
  • Never gamble to win back losses. Chasing a losing session is the most common way a small loss becomes a large one.
  • Avoid playing when you are upset, bored, under pressure or have been drinking.
  • Keep gambling in proportion to the rest of your week. If it is crowding out work, sleep or people, something needs to change.
  • Borrowed money, credit, and money set aside for someone else should never be staked.

18+ only

Our services are for adults aged 18 or over. Letting anyone under 18 use your account with us breaches our terms and will lead to the account being closed.

The tools in your account and how to switch them on

Every account includes a set of controls you can turn on whenever you want. They sit in the safer gambling area of your account settings, next to the cashier. You can also ask our live chat team or e-mail us and we will apply any of them for you and confirm once it is in place.

Deposit, loss and session limits

  • Deposit limits cap the total you can pay in over a day, a week or a month. Once the cap is reached, no further deposit will go through until the period resets.
  • Loss limits cap the net amount you can lose across the period you choose, and take effect as soon as that figure is reached.
  • Session limits cap how long a single session can run. We tell you when the time is up and close the session.

The choices available to you are the options shown in your account. A tighter limit applies as soon as you confirm it. A request to raise or remove a limit is not immediate: it is held for a cooling-off period and then needs confirming, so a decision made in the moment cannot undo one you made calmly.

Reality checks

A reality check is an on-screen reminder at an interval you choose, telling you how long you have been playing and where you stand. You can carry on or end the session from the reminder itself.

Time-outs and self-exclusion

A time-out is a short break. You pick a length from the options in your account, and for that period you cannot deposit or place a stake. The account stays open, marketing stops, and any balance remains yours and can be withdrawn as usual. A time-out cannot be lifted early.

Self-exclusion is a longer and firmer step, taken for the minimum period set out in your account or longer. We close access to gambling, take you out of marketing, and return any remaining balance. We will not accept you back until the full period has run and you have asked us to return, and a further cooling-off period applies before play resumes. We will not open a new account for you while a self-exclusion is in force; if one is opened, we will close it and return the balance.

If you are unsure which tool fits, start with a deposit limit. It is the single control that does most to keep play inside your budget.

Signs that gambling may be causing harm

Gambling harm rarely announces itself. It shows up in habits, and in how you feel about them, rather than in any single session. Go through the list below honestly; more than one or two yes answers is worth acting on.

  • You play for longer, or with more money, than you intended.
  • You have tried to win back losses with bigger stakes.
  • You have borrowed, sold possessions or used money meant for something else in order to gamble.
  • You hide how much you gamble, or play it down, with people close to you.
  • You feel restless or low when you are not gambling, and relief rather than enjoyment when you are.
  • Gambling is affecting your work, studies, sleep, health or relationships.
  • You have tried to cut down or stop and found that you could not.

If any of that is familiar, set a limit or a time-out now and speak to one of the organisations below. Doing both works better than doing either on its own.

Where to get help

The organisations below offer free, confidential support in the UK, and none of them is part of our business. You do not need to be in crisis to get in touch with them.

  • GambleAware funds and signposts free treatment, advice and support across Great Britain, and publishes plain information on gambling harm for players and for the people around them.
  • GamCare provides free counselling and structured treatment for anyone affected by gambling, face to face and remotely, and operates the National Gambling Helpline.
  • The National Gambling Helpline is open to anyone affected by gambling, including family members, and gives confidential advice and a route into treatment.
  • GamStop is the free self-exclusion scheme covering online operators licensed in Great Britain. Registering blocks your access to every participating site, including ours, for the period you choose.

Family and friends can contact these services in their own right, your GP can help, and debt advice charities deal with the financial side separately. We cannot provide counselling or financial advice ourselves, but our team can apply any limit, time-out or self-exclusion you ask for and confirm what is already on your account. E-mail responsiblegaming@casino-playuk.co.uk or use the live chat on the site.

Protecting children and people who should not be playing

Our site is for adults and is not aimed at under-18s. We check the age and identity of everyone who registers. Where verification cannot be completed, play is suspended; stakes placed on any underage account are void and deposits are returned.

Accounts are personal. Keep your password to yourself, do not let anyone else use your account or your cards, and sign out on shared devices. If someone in your household has used your account without permission, tell us so we can secure it.

  • Install parental control or content-filtering software on the devices children use; most can block gambling sites and app downloads.
  • Use separate user profiles, and do not let a browser or device store your card details or keep you signed in.
  • Keep banking apps, e-wallets and card details behind a passcode children do not know.
  • Talk to older children about gambling, including games and apps that imitate it.
